  • 10 maraschino cherries
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan with butter.
  2. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt butter and brown sugar until bubbly. Pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Arrange pineapple slices over the sugar mixture and place a cherry in the center of each slice.
  4. In a bowl, beat together granulated sugar, softened butter, and eggs until fluffy. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk flour and baking powder together. Gradually add to the wet mixture with milk until just combined.
