  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 medium Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté chopped onions until golden brown.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, minced garlic, eggs, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently but thoroughly.
  4. Form small meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter) and set aside.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheddar cheese and add half of the meatballs on top.
  6. Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, cheese, and meatballs. Pour milk evenly over the top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; uncover for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
