Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for frosting)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  4. Gently fold in raspberries and chocolate chips with a spatula.
  5. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. While cakes cool, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder until you reach desired frosting consistency.
  7. Assemble the cake by layering with frosting between the cooled cake layers.
